Published BT leased line costs

Indicative pricing from BT. Actual costs depend on your site location, distance to the nearest BT PoP, and contract term. All prices exclude VAT.

Why can’t we show exact pricing?

BTnet leased line costs are distance-dependent. The monthly charge varies based on the distance from your premises to the nearest BT Point of Presence (PoP), the Openreach tail circuit required, and whether any Excess Construction Charges (ECCs) apply. Two businesses on the same street can receive different quotes.

The tables below show BT’s published starting prices for each product tier and contract term. To get an accurate quote for your address, submit your requirements using the form on this page and our BT Sales Specialist team will run live pricing.

What affects BT leased line pricing?

Several factors determine the final monthly cost of a BTnet leased line.

Factor Impact on cost Notes
Distance to BT PoP Higher cost for greater distance Rural locations may attract higher monthly charges due to extended Openreach tail circuits
Excess Construction Charges (ECCs) One-off charge if civil works required Openreach covers the initial £2,800. You are informed of ECCs before the order proceeds and can cancel at no cost
Bandwidth tier Higher bandwidth = higher monthly cost All circuits support tiered upgrades without a circuit change
Contract term Longer terms reduce monthly cost 36 and 60-month terms include free installation. 12-month terms have an upfront charge
Resilience option Dual circuits increase cost Secure (same PoP) and Secure Plus (diverse PoP) add a second circuit for failover
Edge router and security Managed security adds monthly fee Meraki with Security and Fortinet with Security carry additional monthly charges

Frequently asked questions

How much does a BT leased line cost?
BT offers leased line plans starting at £195 ex VAT/month for 50Mbps (BTnet Express) to £370 ex VAT/month for 500Mbps (BTnet). BTnet Express is suited to smaller businesses requiring fast delivery. BTnet starts at £395/month for larger bandwidth requirements up to 1Gbps. All prices are based on 60-month terms with no connection fee. 36 and 12-month terms are also available.
What are Excess Construction Charges (ECCs)?
ECCs are one-off fees charged when Openreach needs to carry out civil works to connect your premises to the BT network. This could involve digging, traffic management, or council involvement. Openreach covers the initial £2,800 of any charges. You receive the ECC estimate before the order proceeds and can cancel at no cost if the charges are too high. Independent contractors can sometimes reduce ECC costs.
What installation costs are there?
Customers on 36 and 60-month contracts pay no installation fee. 12-month terms include an upfront installation charge. The only additional installation costs are ECCs (if applicable) when Openreach needs to carry out work to connect your site. A site survey is completed as the first step of every order.
How long does BTnet take to install?
Installation times vary by location and complexity. BT provides lead time predictions based on average installation times in your area and a desktop survey of delivery complexity. BTnet Express services have a typical lead time of 35–40 working days. All installations are subject to a site survey, after which BT provides a Customer Committed Date covered under the SLA.
Can I upgrade my bandwidth later?
Yes. All BTnet circuits support tiered bandwidth upgrades up to the maximum of your bearer circuit. Most leased lines are installed on a 1Gbps bearer, so you can increase from 100Mbps up to 1Gbps without a circuit change. For requirements above 1Gbps, you would need a dual 1Gbps load-balanced solution or a 10Gbps bearer upgrade.
Does BTnet come with a router?
Yes. BTnet is delivered as standard with a fully managed router (Customer Premises Equipment). Options include Standard Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Cisco Meraki with Security, and Fortinet with Security. You can also choose a “wires only” option if you prefer to provide and manage your own equipment.
Is BTnet suitable for Cloud Voice and video conferencing?
BTnet is optimised for voice traffic, including BT Cloud Voice and SIP services. The low latency network (<20ms UK, <95ms transatlantic) and dedicated bandwidth ensure stable voice and video quality. BT prioritises voice traffic on the network to maintain call quality at all times.
What is symmetrical bandwidth?
Symmetrical bandwidth means the upload and download speeds are the same. Standard broadband provides lower upload speeds. With BTnet, you get guaranteed equal speeds in both directions, which is essential for cloud applications, video conferencing, VoIP, and large file transfers.
What static IP addresses are included?
BTnet includes static IP addresses for both IPv4 and IPv6. The default provision is typically a /29 subnet. If your business requires a multi-homed configuration, BTnet can be set up to use AS (Autonomous System) IP addressing.
Can BT leased lines connect multiple business sites?
Connecting multiple sites requires SD-WAN from Meraki or Fortinet with cybersecurity options. SD-WAN encrypts traffic across BTnet circuits and optimises performance using path selection and application QoS (Quality of Service).
